Last Thursday (Nov 10, 2011) Birmingham, Al was graced by a performance by supercrew The Foreign Exchange with DJ Rahdu on turntable duty! I'm happy to say that the soul community showed up and supported a great band that chose to come to our city on their own dime. A good time was had by all and we hope to see you all again soon. Thanks to everyone that helped make the show a success, including the wonderful Jessica Latten (JessicaLatten.com) who showed up and showed out on camera duty and for always being willing to assist!
Here's the large portion of my set, recorded before the gain somehow got set too high and distorted the sound. Enjoy!
Note: This is not a mix of The Foreign Exchange songs |

Various Artists - The Jay Dee Pause Remix Suite

It’s amazing how time flies… Jay Dee’s Welcome 2 Detroit was released almost ten years ago to this day! BBE says the album was an inspired work that reflected Dilla’s varied influences which ranged from The Carpenters to Sergio Mendes. Now, a decade later, BamaLoveSoul releases The Pause Remix Suite: a compilation of remixes that honor Jay Dee’s influence on Hip Hop and the musical world at large. We like to think of The Remix Suite in the words of Frank (of Frank N Dank) as, “Brand New Sh!t With a Blend!” Just like Dilla’s influences when crafting Welcome 2 Detroit, this compilation presents many different perspectives to the originally gritty Pause for your listening pleasure. Enjoy

Tracklisting:
1. Salah Ananse Remix
2. J-Finesse 12 Mile Remix
3. J Haze Remix
4. Aeon’s Yacht in Belize Remix

BamaLovesoul.com presents Wilson Pickett - a funky situation [the remixes]

Greetings everyone, it is finally here, our first project of the NEW YEAR! We proudly present to you a project that showcases many interpretations of songs from Wilson Pickett's 1978 a funky situation album.
Wilson Pickett, an icon and Alabama native, has been so influential to modern music but with the growing amount of microwave talent, it has become so easy to forget the pioneers. With the assistance of producers and emcees from across the globe, we've created a compilation that will place Wilson Pickett on the tip of your tongue and encourage you to research the man that even James Brown gives up the stage to.
We ask that you not only download and listen, but also pass on and share this compilation to others, not only because we're immensely proud of it, but because our musical history is in jeopardy and our youth have no idea who came before Usher.
Enough of waxing poetic! For all my finnicky downloaders, we've included several download options of 320 bitrate mp3s at BamaLoveSoul.Com. Enjoy

1. FreshNerd - TheNight
2. Byron the Aquarius - The Wicked
3. Illastrate; Amdex; Boog Brown - It's Fine

Dwele's demo, which is also considered his first album, 1998's Rize, was sold out of the trunk of his car exuding the DIY ethic that is much more prevalent nowadays. Bubbling over with warm Rhodes, unconventional lyrics and soul, soul, soul it helped him score a deal with Virgin where he released his first studio album Subject in 2003. He's continued to release albums since then and has become an industry favorite.

In between recordings, he stayed in the studio banging out treats for his friends, fans and potential albums. A lot of these tracks have never seen an official release, yet they fell through the cracks and onto the computers of voracious listeners. We here at BamaLoveSoul feel as if these tracks should be heard and have selected several of these songs to create Keep RIZEing to the Top. Enter Keep RIZEing to the Top: a SELECTION of Unreleased Dwele Songs from his many unreleased projects.

I recently damaged a hard drive and lost a lot of music. This is one of the major reasons why I havent been doing many mixes lately.
However, in my search to regain all of the music that was lost, I finally turned on my dinosaur of a PC. I've found many old shows there that I did back in '04 and '05 (although not all of them), and want to share this House Mix with you that was featured on Digital-DJs.com 3-31-04. I dont even remember some of these songs, so no playlist.
Don't fret, I'm sure you'll enjoy ths regardless
