Like most, I found out about Spacek when their single Eve first hit the US in 2001. Their sound was completely unlike anything I heard before; left field, yet soulful electronic sounds anchored by the sexy, smoky vocals of Steve Smith aka Steve Spacek who I assumed was the only member of the group. Spacek was is actually a 3 man collective including guitarist, Edmund Cavill and drummer, Morgan Zarate who has gone on to do some pleasant production respectively. Together they released 2 albums but the volume of their work, including solo albums, remixes, production and features is vast. This is our Love Letter to the brothers Spacek delivered with hopes that there will be a new collaborative album sometime soon. Thanks for the great music Spacek. We love y’all! Undoubtedly one of my favorite vocalists/musicians is Me’Shell Ndegeocello. She has the rare ability amongst this generation’s musicians to flirt with any genre she chooses and not lose any of her fans. She’s created albums containing R&B, Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz and everything in between and does it well.

Well, by now everyone should know about Robert Glasper’s phenomenal album that’s dropping at the end of next month. Black Radio is going to be one of the best albums of 2012 and will definitely set the mark for what future albums should sound like. This is no surprise, the brother is affiliated with every musician of note and is more than noteworthy himself.

Various Artists - The Jay Dee Pause Remix Suite
March 11, 2011 01:54 AM PST
It’s amazing how time flies… Jay Dee’s Welcome 2 Detroit was released almost ten years ago to this day! BBE says the album was an inspired work that reflected Dilla’s varied influences which ranged from The Carpenters to Sergio Mendes. Now, a decade later, BamaLoveSoul releases The Pause Remix Suite: a compilation of remixes that honor Jay Dee’s influence on Hip Hop and the musical world at large. We like to think of The Remix Suite in the words of Frank (of Frank N Dank) as, “Brand New Sh!t With a Blend!” Just like Dilla’s influences when crafting Welcome 2 Detroit, this compilation presents many different perspectives to the originally gritty Pause for your listening pleasure. Enjoy Tracklisting:

January 11, 2010 07:06 PM PST
Dwele's demo, which is also considered his first album, 1998's Rize, was sold out of the trunk of his car exuding the DIY ethic that is much more prevalent nowadays. Bubbling over with warm Rhodes, unconventional lyrics and soul, soul, soul it helped him score a deal with Virgin where he released his first studio album Subject in 2003. He's continued to release albums since then and has become an industry favorite. In between recordings, he stayed in the studio banging out treats for his friends, fans and potential albums. A lot of these tracks have never seen an official release, yet they fell through the cracks and onto the computers of voracious listeners. We here at BamaLoveSoul feel as if these tracks should be heard and have selected several of these songs to create Keep RIZEing to the Top. Enter Keep RIZEing to the Top: a SELECTION of Unreleased Dwele Songs from his many unreleased projects. Get the indiviual tracks HERE: WWW.BamaLoveSoul.Bandcamp.Com
